The 'College Mums' system is set up to provide you with people you can go to if you need help, have any questions or just want some company.
Each fresher is given two second year parents (and a sister who is also in first year) who will take them under their wing. You'll find out who they are just after results day in August and you'll go out for a meal will your 'family' at the start of Freshers' Week.
For most people it is just a bit of fun, a source of chocolate during those 5th week blues, and a silly excuse to get 'married' to one of your friends and have bizarre dinner parties.
At least one of your mums will be studying your subject, so do take advantage to ask any advice with any work-related issues! If you have any queries about your course before August, email me and I'll get you in contact with someone from Newnham who does your subject. (I do Linguistics, so if there are any Linguistics students reading this- it would be lovely to hear from you!)
