Most of the world has a very set view of what Cambridge is. Some perceptions are correct (it is highly academic; we do work very hard; the buildings are very old; we do have some wierd traditions...); some are not (too many to list!)
There is simply no single 'type' of Cambridge student, except the one common factor that we're all bright, interested people with lots of ideas and ambitions (though please note that not everyone is career-obsessed or the next Einstein. Though we have some of those, too!)
Some of the 'Cambridge experience' can seem a bit alien at first (wearing our academic black gowns, for example, or 'formal hall'), but it soon becomes perfectly normal once you've done it a few times.
